Client: State of Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Commission for African American Males

Name of Project: Tobacco Prevention African American Male Health Research Project 

Description of project: 

Completed qualitative and quantitative research among Ohio’s African American men (low income and/or blue collar between the ages of 18 to 55) in seven major cities.  Discussion themes include experiences with lung cancer, barriers to quitting smoking, and perceived benefits of quitting and ideal campaign elements for future campaigns.  Information used to supplement existing finding and provide greater insight regarding the use of tobacco among African American youth in urban communities to better plan future cessation programs and outreach.
